System requirements for Office 365

Office 365 is a subscription that includes the premium versions of the Office apps across all your devices, monthly exclusive feature updates, and 1TB of cloud storage. Office 2019 is a one-time purchase that includes classic versions of the Office apps installed on one PC or Mac (or 5+ with a volume license).

Office 365 subscription plans

Create your best work with Office 365. With Office 365 subscription plans you get premium versions of Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, and Access as well as access to additional OneNote features (features vary) (Publisher and Access are available on PC only.) Office 365 works across multiple devices and includes 1TB of online storage per person with OneDrive. Apps are always updated, so they're never outdated.

Office 365 is designed to work with the latest browsers and versions of Office. If you use older browsers and versions of Office that are not in mainstream support:

• Microsoft won’t deliberately prevent you from connecting to the service, but the quality of your Office 365 experience may diminish over time.

• Microsoft won’t provide code fixes to resolve non-security related problems.

See the Microsoft Support Lifecycle Policy site for Office mainstream support dates.

Office 365 plans for business, education, and government

The system requirements in the table below apply to Office 365 ProPlus, as well as all business, education, and government plans1. They also apply to standalone plans for individual services, such as email-only or online meetings-only plans. Applications such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Skype for Business Online, Yammer, Project Online, Visio Online, and Power BI are also covered by the table below.

Effective October 13th, 2020, Office 365 services (e.g. Exchange Online, SharePoint Online) will only support Office client connectivity from subscription clients (e.g. Office 365 ProPlus), or the following Office perpetual clients: Office 2019 and Office 2016. See the Microsoft Support Lifecycle Policy site for Office mainstream support dates.
